And I haven’t even talked about the thousands of tire models available in the market. How do you choose the best one for your car?

STT Pro Review Oct 2024: Why Buy This Product?

Before answering that question, let’s look at the Cooper brand. It has been in the tire industry for over a century, and I have picked it as the best brand for you because it keeps customer satisfaction as its topmost priority. Cooper tires are known to offer best-in-class handling, fuel-efficiency, and longevity.

It was after a lot of research that I zeroed in on the Discoverer STT Pro. After using it for a couple of months, I am convinced that I made the right call! Here are all the praiseworthy aspects of this tire model that I observed.

Durable Design

Cooper upgraded its Discoverer STT tire model, and this one is quite literally the “Pro” version of it.

Straight off the bat, I was impressed by how durable this tire is. Its carbon black tread compound consists of advanced silica. Add that with the 3-Ply Armor-Tek3 protection, and you get a tire that can sustain damage from trees, rocks, and other debris. If you like a more comparative analysis, it is 1.5 times as strong as a standard 2-ply tire.

What’s even better is that the third ply has an optimal orientation to the other 2 ply’s, which helps maximize protection even in extreme off-road conditions. It is safe to say that when it comes to durability, Cooper managed to tick all the correct boxes with this tire model!

Stability & Handling

The first opinion I formed looking at this tire’s aggressive tread design is that it must be too loud on dry pavement. That is simply not true, although it does emit a slight humming noise.

Cooper incorporated a 3-2 rib pattern in this tire model to cancel out excessive road noise, and it does a reasonably good job at that. This unique inner tread design also reduces the tendency of your vehicle to drift – something that’s common with other aggressive off-road tire designs.

I was quite impressed with the Flex Grooves on this tire. They work wonders in reducing the jarring effects of bumps and potholes. So, you can rest assured that with these tires on your vehicle, you will be enjoying a smooth ride.

Unmatched Traction

What sets the Discoverer STT Pro apart from its competition is the sheer level of excellence of its traction.

I especially liked the thoughtful inclusion of side biters (unique shoulder cleats) along the outer sidewalls. They provide enhanced grip and traction on all kinds of terrain. This tire is built to withstand several surfaces, including sand, grass, dirt, and rock, but nothing comes close to its traction on muddy terrain.

Cooper’s engineers added mud release dimples on the outer lugs, which increase traction in deep mud by getting rid of any mud buildup in the tire.

As I’ve already mentioned, the Discoverer STT Pro is designed to provide exceptional traction on several different terrains, but that’s not the only versatile aspect of this tire model.

It is available in various size options, ranging from 15 to 22 inches. These tires are available with load ratings of C, D, or E. So, irrespective of the type of vehicle you own, you will most likely be able to find a variant of this model that perfectly fits your car.

There are only a handful of tire models out there that are as versatile as the Discoverer STT Pro from Cooper!

Powerful Performance

The Discoverer STT Pro is all about delivering the most powerful performance, and it shows in every aspect of its design. From its heavy-duty tread design to its 3-ply carcass protection, it all blends perfectly to create a tire that can withstand off-road conditions without getting damaged.

I did not face any difficulty in driving on a somewhat steep incline, thanks to the large cleats on the sidewall shoulders. The design and orientation of these cleats enhance traction on inclines. So, you need not worry about tire side-slip.

When it’s all said and done, the Discoverer STT Pro will surely amaze you with its performance, as it has amazed me!

What Could’ve Been Better?

As good as the Discoverer STT Pro is, it is not perfect. The first downside of this tire model is its price. There are some size/finish variants of this tire model that can cost you around a thousand bucks (for a set of 4). Not every vehicle owner would be willing to shell out that kind of money for a set of replacement tires.

Another thing worth mentioning is that this tire emits a slight humming sound when you are driving on dry pavement or a highway, but it is not too loud to be a nuisance.

I still recommend buying the Discoverer STT Pro because these flaws are far from deal-breakers.

Verdict

Discoverer STT Pro is the best option for those of you who are looking for a robust and heavy tire that is well-equipped to handle all kinds of terrain, especially mud.
