X Bull Winch Review Oct 2024: Why Buy This Product?

I needed a winch for my Land Rover Discovery, and I decided to give this X-Bull model a try after doing a ton of research. Straight off the bat, I was impressed by the customer reviews of this winch. It has garnered a ton of positive reviews, so it is safe to say that users like it a lot.

And after using it, I know why it has garnered such a positive response. You can choose from two color options – black and orange. I liked the orange variant more, so I purchased that.

Here are all the praiseworthy features of this winch that I observed.

Installation

If you have some experience with winches, you know that they can be a tad bit tricky to install, and I learned that this model from X-Bull is no exception as I had to get a bit creative to get the wiring correct. So, I recommend you hire a professional to install it if you aren’t confident about doing it yourself.

But don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying that it is too difficult to DIY. Anybody familiar with any standard electric winch should be able to install it. It is more about being on the safer side, because if the wiring is not done correctly, it may lead to excessive heating or short circuits.

Durability

Durability is a prerequisite of a good winch because it is meant to withstand a lot of pressure, and that’s one aspect in which this X-Bull model does not fail to impress!

With its 3-Stage Planetary Gear System and automatic load holding, you can rest assured that you are getting a sturdy winch that will be able to take care of nearly any task at hand. I especially liked the DYNEEMA synthetic cable which is 26 meters long.

Moreover, it comes with a waterproof IP67 rating, and the lightweight cable can float in water. You can use it under extreme temperatures too such as below -20 degrees centigrade.

Safety

No other winch comes close to this powerful beast from X-Bull in terms of how safe it is, and you will appreciate the thoughtful inclusion of a breaker to ensure maximum safety. There are no sharp frays on the synthetic cable, so you need not worry about getting injured while setting it up.

The leads to the two batteries are long enough, but I went ahead and mounted a 50 circuit breaker next to the air filter. It serves as an added protection with the cable soldered, so you may consider doing it. And did I mention that it comes with an overload protector?

It is safe to say that it doesn’t get much more reliable than this when you’re talking about an electric winch.

This X-Bull winch comes equipped with a 500 AMP state-of-the-art Solenoid, and two 12V batteries power it. That gives it more than adequate power for even the most challenging tasks.

Not only was I able to pull my vehicle from a mud hole quickly, but also pull it uphill. I can assure you that you won’t find a more powerful winch in its price range.

Its proprietary braided synthetic cable comes with an unparalleled breaking strength of 23,809 pounds. It weighs over 60 pounds, which goes to show that it is made from top-notch materials.

Value for Money

When I first looked at the price of this winch, I expected it to be an average product. Let’s face it; you can’t expect a winch of this price range to be incredible. And that’s the USP of this X-Bull winch – it comes at an affordable price without compromising on quality.

And if you weren’t impressed enough by its price, I must tell you that it comes with an excellent, durable winch cover. This all-weather cover is waterproof and dustproof so you can use it anytime, anywhere. It also features a secure snug fit, thanks to the sewn-in elastic around the edges.

Furthermore, the latest generation of wireless remote comes included to enhance the sheer value for money you derive from this winch.

What Could’ve Been Better?

I have been using this X-Bull winch for over three months now, and I couldn’t help but notice a couple of downsides.

The synthetic rope is beginning to lose color because of being exposed to the sun. I did not use the cover always, and that may have aggravated the issue, so I can’t blame the winch. But the metal is also showing some signs of wear that I wasn’t expecting within three months. Let’s see how it holds up in the long run!

Another concern I have is that it is always ready to run, whether the car ignition is on or off. It would be best if you were careful about keeping the remote out of reach of children to avoid mishaps.

But these drawbacks are insignificant relative to the many positives of this winch.

Verdict

Now that you have reached the end of this review, it is time to share my verdict with you. There are a couple of gripes I had with X-Bull 13000 Winch, but they aren’t deal-breakers, in my humble opinion. My overall experience in using it has been nothing short of spectacular, and hence, my verdict is a definite buy!
